The City of Angels Chooses Google...

It seems the City of Angels (Los Angeles) has chosen to run Google Apps for its 34,000 employees instead of the Novel GroupWise system. This information comes from Google’s Blog Post, and Google can be excited that it is getting this sort of collaboration with big cities. It appears that LA evaluated some 14 different email technologies and Google Apps was the clear winner. Although Los Angles is making this huge leap towards cloud based storage, it seems other cities have already been using Google apps such as: Washington D.C. and Orlando, FL.

This deal closes in at $7.2 million dollars and is likely to prove worthwhile in cost savings for the City of Los Angeles. However, the question is. Can having the cloud based services pose a security risk, or proofs of concept that cloud based services are emerging in the data forefront?
